Destination Medical Center Corporation Board Begins Energy and Sustainability Initiative, Tours Rochester International Airport

ROCHESTER, Minn. (August 27, 2015) – The Destination Medical Center Corporation (DMC Corporation) Board of Directors began its energy and sustainability initiative with a planning discussion. The Board’s new initiative was made possible by a McKnight Foundation grant. The grant was approved at last month’s Board meeting. It aims to address efficient energy usage and environmental sustainability goals related to create a more sustainable future for Rochester and the DMC.

The DMC Corporation Board also visited the Rochester International Airport for a presentation on the Airport’s strategic plan, current and upcoming projects, and potential for future growth.

“Transportation is a critical component of the Destination Medical Center initiative,” said Lt. Governor Tina Smith, DMC Corporation Board Chair. “As Rochester continues to grow, we need to ensure that residents and visitors alike have real transportation choices. Our visit to Rochester International Airport today will help inform this planning effort.”

In other DMCC business, the Board received a year-to-date update on the 2015 DMCC budget, discussed the 2016 DMCC funding as well as the DMC EDA 2016 budget, its work plan, and five-year capital improvement plan, and had a preview of the new DMC website, which will launch soon.

The next DMCC Board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 24, at 9:30 a.m.
