In 2013, the State of Minnesota, the City of Rochester, and Olmsted County joined forces with Mayo Clinic to create the Destination Medical Center (DMC) Economic Development Agency. Its goal is to leverage the innovation and capability of Mayo Clinic to create the world’s premier location for health and wellness. This bold vision has been carried along by a collective infusion of $585 million in public funding.
For more than 150 years,

Working with Mortenson, the development of One and Two Discovery Square is the anchor of the Discovery Square sub-district.
Created for collaboration, with access to Mayo Clinic’s Core Facilities – a mere 495 steps from Mayo Clinic’s state of the art research and lab space (infrastructure for wet and dry labs and GMP facilities).
One and Two Discovery Square feature advanced labs, collaborative team spaces, casual seating areas, multiple shared conference rooms and a spacious courtyard for teams to ideate, collaborate, reflect and relax. Mortensen Construction referred to it as “structured serendipity” between tenants and the broader medical community in Rochester.
