Community Invited to Experience Link Rapid Transit on November 18

Destination Medical Center, the City of Rochester, Rochester Public Library and Rochester Public Transit invite the community to experience Link Bus Rapid Transit on Wednesday, November 18, from 3–6 p.m. at the Rochester Public Library.

The free, family-friendly event is part of DMC Exchange, a week of experiences, events and milestones showcasing Rochester’s progress. It will give residents, families, and community members a chance to explore a Link bus, learn about the new transit system, and see how this major public infrastructure investment will connect people and places across Rochester.

“Link is about much more than moving people from one place to another,” said Patrick Seeb, executive director of Destination Medical Center Economic Development Agency. “It’s about making it easier for people to access jobs, healthcare, businesses and the places that make Rochester a great community. This event is an opportunity to see that investment taking shape and understand what it will mean for Rochester’s future.”

Explore Link, Learn What’s Ahead

The event will begin with a short program and remarks at 3 p.m., followed by interactive experiences and activities through 6 p.m.

Attendees will have opportunities to:

  • Explore a Link bus and learn about the future rider experience.
  • Get a closer look at station enhancements, public art, and other features being developed along the route.
  • Learn how Link will connect Mayo Clinic, downtown Rochester, and other community destinations.
  • Participate in hands-on activities designed for children and adults.
  • Connect with project partners and ask questions about what to expect as Link moves toward opening.

A Community Experience at the Rochester Public Library

The Rochester Public Library will serve as the gathering place for the event, offering a welcoming setting for residents of all ages to explore Link through interactive displays and activities.

“The library is a place for everyone, and making it easier for people to get here is important,” said Karen Lemke, director of the Rochester Public Library. “Link will provide another way for residents and families to access the library, whether they’re coming to borrow a book, attend a program, use our resources or simply connect with their community. We’re excited to welcome everyone for a firsthand look at this new transportation option.”

Rochester Public Transit representatives will also be available to help attendees learn about Link’s future service, the rider experience and how the new system will fit into Rochester’s broader public transportation network.

“This isn’t just a new bus. It’s a whole new transit experience, and we can’t wait for people to step aboard, explore what’s coming and imagine how Link will change the way they move around our city,” said Rachel Fautsch, Director of Transit and Parking, City of Rochester.

Anticipated to begin service in summer 2027, Link represents one of the most significant public infrastructure investments in Rochester’s history. The project is designed to support the city’s continued growth by providing a new transportation option that improves connections between destinations and helps people move throughout the community.
