Description

“Equity is an outcome,” says Garfield Bowen, 3M VP of Social & Environmental Justice. 3M defines equity as “acknowledging the historical context of people with differing identities and working to remove barriers in order to create fair access to opportunities for everyone to thrive”.

After the murder of George Floyd, 3M took a bold step to hire a Vice President of Social Justice – a unique role in corporate America – charged with leveraging the full capabilities of the company to drive equity in the workplace, community, and business practices.

This session will provide practical tips on how companies can create a strategy to deliver on an equity ambition. Garfield will share learnings from 3M’s journey over the last 3.5 years and go deeper on the work they are doing to drive equity through their business practices.
