Mayo Clinic recently joined the Better Climate Challenge, an initiative launched by the US Department of Energy that encourages organizations to set ambitious goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Mayo Clinic representatives, Amanda Holloway, Sustainability Director, and Dru Larson, Senior Systems Energy Engineer, will share details about the Better Climate Challenge, Mayo Clinic’s commitments, and strategies to successfully achieve sustainability goals.

OUR PRESENTERS
Amanda Holloway, Sustainability Director
Amanda Holloway directs Mayo Clinic’s Office of Sustainability and played a significant role in founding the office in 2018. She has been employed with Mayo Clinic for 21 years and held roles as Recycling Coordinator and Section Head of Facilities Operations (overseeing the Section of Waste Management, Recycling, and Environmental Services). In her current role, Amanda guides sustainability planning and strategy across all Mayo Clinic sites to advance organizational initiatives in energy and waste reduction, water conservation, supply chain practices, the built environment, employee engagement, and more. She holds a Master of Science in Sustainable Management from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Dru Larson, Senior Systems Energy Engineer
Dru Larson is a Senior Systems Engineer (Energy) and responsible for tracking energy performance, identifying energy conservation opportunities, and promoting energy efficient strategies and best practices. He holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a Certified Energy Manager with the Association of Energy Engineers. He has 10 years of experience with utilities, energy, and energy systems.

The DMC Sustainability Series is a monthly seminar sponsored by Destination Medical Center and the City of Rochester. The purpose is to introduce sustainability concepts and best practices for everyone to consider. The series is held virtually the third Wednesday of every month at noon.
