Many people are wearing pins depicting the DMC logo to show their support for DMC. That’s great! We appreciate everyone’s support.
A few people have asked about the DMC logo and what it means. It was adopted in April of 2010 after an extensive design and review process. Many designs were considered before settling on this brand mark. It was chosen in part for its adaptability and usability.
The dew drop “pin” was inspired by the Google internet map locator. It signifies “This is the place – Rochester is the place.” The asterisk symbolizes “Where I can learn more?” Its origin is from Late Latin asteriscus and from Greek asteriskos, literally, little star. The seven points represent the seven areas of focus of DMC. The logo was designed by Mayo Clinic Media Support Services.
Green was chosen as the color for balance, growth, renewal and rebirth. Green is an emotionally positive color and the color of nature and peace. A combination of yellow and blue, green encompasses the mental clarity and optimism of yellow with the emotional calm and insight of blue, inspiring hope and generosity of spirit.
The service mark has been met with an overwhelmingly positive response in Rochester, Minnesota, and beyond.
