Description

Join us for the DMC Sustainability Speaker Series on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from noon-1 p.m. at the Rochester Public Library (Meeting Room B, 2nd floor). This month’s topic will be renewable energy.

In March 2017, the City of Madison, Wisconsin became the 25th city in North America to set a goal of achieving 100% renewable energy and net-zero carbon emissions.  Sustainable Engineering Group (now part of HGA) was contracted by the City of Madison to develop an Action Plan to help meet these ambitious goals.  This presentation will provide an overview of the stakeholder engagement process, the data gathering and analysis and the development of the plan.  Manus McDevitt, a Principal with HGA who helped develop the City of Madison’s 100% renewable energy and net-zero carbon plan, will present the three timeline scenarios to reach the goals that were developed based on an aggressive, moderate and a long-term schedule.  McDevitt will also talk about some interesting lessons learned that could help other communities in the development of their 100% renewable energy and net-zero carbon plans.
