Description

Sustainability presentation and discussion led by Anissa Hollingshead, City Clerk and Director of Communications for the City of Rochester.

The impacts of climate change, such as extreme weather events, can negatively impact underserved, vulnerable, and historically underrepresented populations. In this presentation, Hollingshead will discuss how communities can intentionally focus on race to bring about both institutional cultural change and design strategies to mitigate those impacts.

In 2018, the City of Rochester joined the Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE), a national network of local governments working to achieve racial equity and advance opportunities for all. Through participation in the GARE core network of more than 140 member jurisdictions, the City has begun the process of implementing a race-based focus on improving outcomes for all residents of our community.

The DMC Sustainability Series is a partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council. This presentation is free to attend. Healthy snacks will be provided; attendees are invited to bring their own lunch.
