Description
Sustainability presentation and discussion led by Jeremy Sutton, director of power resources for Rochester Public Utilities (RPU).
Sutton’s presentation will provide an overview of how an electric utility facilitates long-term resource planning. When an electricity supplier plans for how it will meet future demands, many factors come into play. These include potential environmental regulations or the utility’s use of demand side management to help consumers become more efficient. Sutton will specifically address RPU’s approach to long-term resource planning.
Attendees will develop a working knowledge of how the energy grid is balanced for optimal electricity transmission. Sutton will provide a high-level overview of how the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and Midcontinent Independent System Operator regulate the industry.
The DMC Sustainability Series is a partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council. This presentation is free to attend. Healthy snacks will be provided; attendees are invited to bring their own lunch.
