Description

As part of the DMC Sustainability Series in partnership with USGBC, USGBC West North Central, Project Manager, Brent Suski will update us on the important and brand new changes to LEED v4.1, including how projects can earn LEED points through building performance monitoring via the Arc platform.

LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Available for virtually all building, community, and home project types, LEED provides a framework to create healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings. LEED certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement.

The latest version of LEED – LEED v4 – was launched nearly two years ago. LEED v4.1 – while not a full version change – is an incremental update with significant features. Brent will introduce us to USGBC, LEED, and walk us through the important refinements in v4.1.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Become familiar with the evolution of LEED and the future direction of LEED v4 updates including how methodologies for tracking and rating performance are integrated into the rating system.
  2. Attendees will be able to identify the goals for the technical development of the LEEDv4.1 update including shifts in points to give more weight to credit requirements that are directly measurable by the project, with an analysis of how credits like Materials and Resources: Purchasing in the LEED v4.1 O+M Existing Buildings Rating System, now feeds into the 10 available project base points.
  3. Understand the new requirements of the LEED v4.1 including the new performance prerequisites and the removal of credits including Existing Building Commissioning-Analysis and other Commissioning credits that are no longer available in LEED v4.1.
  4. Explain how the Arc technology platform is used to produce a performance score for existing buildings by analyzing Transportation Performance, Water Performance, Energy Performance, Waste Performance, and IEQ Performance in LEED v4.1 O+M Existing Buildings.

CE Credit for GBCI and AIA available at request. Healthy snacks will be provided, feel free to bring a lunch.
