Laura Salveson, formerly Director of Facilities and Guest Services, and Karyn Sciortino Johnson, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Manager, discuss ways in which McKnight Foundation strives to be inclusive for staff, guests, and people working in the Foundation office. The presentation will include some of the thought and design process that went into renovation of the Foundation’s new office space, as well as the ways in which inclusion and equity are embedded in the day-to-day work of the foundation.

As McKnight’s 75th Anniversary Project Manager, Laura Salveson drives planning and coordination for a bold, multi-year campaign honoring McKnight’s history, legacy, and impact. This role is a fitting capstone in Laura’s accomplished career, uniting her deep experience and passions in service of a once-in-a-generation Foundation milestone. Laura brings deep knowledge of public history exhibits and programming, a background that makes her exceptionally well positioned to bring this vision to life.
Karyn Sciortino Johnson
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Manager, McKnight Foundation
Karyn Sciortino Johnson joined McKnight in 2002. She is currently the diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging manager, responsible for designing and managing enterprise-level diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging strategies and initiatives to support the Foundation’s goals and values and ensuring integration and alignment across the Foundation.

The Equity Alliance Equity Series is a monthly seminar sponsored by Destination Medical Center and the City of Rochester. The purpose is to introduce diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices, build sustainable DEI community strategies, and build advocacy and allyship within the Rochester community. The series is held virtually on the second Wednesday of every month at noon.
