Description
How can communities grow without losing what makes them special? How do we balance economic development through equity, health, and creating a high quality of life? Join Patrick Seeb, Executive Director of Destination Medical Center, for a thought-provoking discussion with author, public leader, and former Google executive Steve Grove, as we explore themes of community, reinvention, and the power of place.
Drawing from his compelling memoir How I Found Myself in the Midwest, Grove shares his journey of returning home to his Minnesota roots to reimagine what local leadership can look like. Through stories of personal reinvention and public service during moments of historic crisis—from the COVID-19 pandemic to the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder—Grove offers powerful insights for mid-sized cities like Rochester navigating growth, identity, and opportunity.
This discussion will invite us to think boldly about what makes a community thrive – and how each of us plays a part. Whether you’re a policymaker, resident, entrepreneur, or advocate, this conversation will spark new ideas about how to shape the future of Rochester and America’s City for Health.
Our local bookshop partner, Garden Party Books, will have “How I Found Myself in the Midwest” available for purchase in their store leading up to the August 20th. They’ll also be on site with us at the Chateau Theater, with books available for purchase during our event. Visit Garden Party Books at 602 7th St NW, Rochester, MN 55901.
