Destination Medical Center Hosts Annual Meeting on September 16

Reimagine the downtown Rochester Riverfront with lights and music show

On Thursday, September 16, Destination Medical Center (DMC) will host its annual meeting from 5:00 – 9:00 pm. along the downtown Rochester Riverfront (50 3rd Street SE, Rochester, MN 55904). With a new location this year, the meeting will showcase the Riverfront Reimagined site and possibilities for its future development.

From 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., attendees are invited to go on a Riverfront Walk, where multiple themed learning stations will be set up for conversations about the river, trails, mobility and the Riverfront Reimagined site. The site, located in DMC’s Downtown Waterfront sub-district, is an approximately 2.5 acre area with proximity to natural attributes along the Zumbro River, as well as the urban development potential in the vibrant downtown. DMC and the City of Rochester are working to develop a vision for creating a signature public space that connects to other downtown public amenities.

A program at 7:00 p.m. will provide an update on DMC progress in the past year and a look ahead to future plans for downtown Rochester. DMC Economic Development Agency (DMC EDA) executive director Patrick Seeb, DMC EDA Board Chair Dr. Clark Otley, DMC Corporation (DMCC) Board Chair R.T. Rybak, and Rochester City Council President Brooke Carlson will share comments.

From 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. guests will experience a unique activation of the riverfront. As the sun sets, a colorful light show accompanied by locally-produced music will provide an example of the fresh, inviting and innovative ways in which this space can be utilized for public enjoyment and increase activity around the river.

COVID-19 safety precautions will be in place. Food and drink will not be served. Restrooms with washing stations will be provided on site. Masks and social distancing are strongly encouraged. DMC will continue to monitor and adapt the event in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) outdoor event guidelines.

The most convenient parking option is the 2nd Street Parking Ramp at 14 2nd Street SE.

The DMC Annual Meeting is free and open to the public. Advanced registration is preferred.
