Description

Join us January 10, 2018 for the DMC Sustainability Speaker Series.

This monthly series is intended to educate and build community among multiple areas of expertise as well as provide a forum for people to interact and learn about new topics, projects, and ways of thinking related to sustainability.

The second session in the series will highlight Net Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB). NZEBs generate an equivalent amount of energy annually compared to the amount that is consumed by them. We will explore whether an NZEB office is possible in a downtown environment, whether it can be done in a northern climate like Minnesota’s, and if the dollars can compete with a market-rate building.

This in-depth study will examine a single commercial high-rise in downtown Minneapolis. Eric Morin, from Ryan Companies, will explore the feasibility of different strategies for energy reduction and generation, highlight what works best for this site, the Minnesota climate, and market, and discuss how certain strategies act together to achieve greater results.

The event will be held Wednesday, January 10 at the Rochester Public Library from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.
