As an urban, fully developed community Hopkins, MN is only going to get hotter as Minnesota experiences climate change and leadership is making changes to make sure the future is one of resilience. This presentation will share two innovative programs and projects which look to reduce the urban heat island effect and speed up the deployment of clean energy and energy efficiency solutions with a cost share program for residents and businesses.

PeggySue Imihy Bean, AICP is the Special Projects and Initiatives Manager for the City of Hopkins, MN where she oversees the City’s work on racial equity, sustainability, and parks planning. She holds a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota. PeggySue is passionate about planning work that clearly articulates and takes action on community needs and vision and creating space for residents to have meaningful engagement and input in processes. PeggySue serves as the current President of APA Minnesota and enjoys reading and regularly convincing herself that the next hobby is definitely going to be the one that sticks.
