Description

Sustainability presentation and discussion with Bryan Miko, Public Infrastructure Engineering Manager for Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS) and Dan Murphy, Engineered Products Manager for ADS.

ADS is the #2 recycler of plastic in the United States and has been recycling plastics for use in infrastructure for 40 years.  Miko and Murphy will discuss stormwater systems, the change in their design due to the pressures of climate change, examples of green infrastructure and the decision-making process used to introduce recycled plastics into infrastructure products and the overall benefits as a sustainable replacement to traditional materials. They will also address a major challenge associated with this decision: ensuring the longevity of the traditional infrastructure that is replaced by recycled plastic materials is met or exceeded.

Bryan Miko, PE, ENV SP, is Public Infrastructure Engineering Manager for ADS for the eastern United States.  Bryan has an extensive background and several years of experience in material science, structural design, asset management and sustainability and resilience of utilities and stormwater infrastructure.

Dan Murphy, PE, is Engineered Products Manager for ADS in the upper Midwest.  Dan’s expertise is in the implementation and design of stormwater infrastructure to meet complex site and regulatory challenges.

The DMC Sustainability Series is free to view.
